Basilla Café — A Lakeside Garden in Bloom
Address : 88, Hadongmosan-gil, Gyeongju-si / 경상북도 경주시 하동못안길 88
Right beside the calm waters of Hadong Reservoir, Basilla Café greets visitors with open air, sunlight, and a view that changes with the seasons.

It’s more than just a coffee spot — it’s a floral garden that breathes with color.
In spring, the fields burst into life with white daisies, stretching all the way to the terrace.

In summer, the same space transforms into a brilliant field of sunflowers that reach up toward the sky.
What makes Basilla even more special is its photo spot right in the middle of the flower field.
There’s a walking path that lets you step between the blossoms, and during both the daisy and sunflower seasons, a large flower sculpture stands in the center — a whimsical landmark perfect for photos.

It feels like walking into a living postcard.
Inside, sunlight pours through floor-to-ceiling windows, and the cool wooden interior contrasts beautifully with the warmth outside.
The space stays quiet even on busy afternoons, filled only with soft music and the scent of coffee drifting through the air.

Signature Drinks & Desserts
Basilla’s drinks reflect its seasonal theme — each one inspired by the flowers that bloom outside:
- Sunflower Latte (Iced)
- Sunflower Ade
- Basilla Patbingsu

What I liked the most about Basilla
My favorite part about Basilla was that there are so many outdoor seating area. Some were under the tree, some were under the building and there were even some seats that you can bring your pets 😀
Arae-heon — A Hanok Retreat by the Water
Address : 181, Bobul-ro, Gyeongju-si / 경상북도 경주시 보불로 181

A few minutes from Basilla, tucked among stone walls and pine trees, sits Araeheon —
a serene hanok café where time seems to move at its own pace.
It faces the quiet Hadong Reservoir, and from the wooden terrace,
you can watch the sunlight ripple across the lake while sipping a warm cup of coffee or tea.

Here, the air smells faintly of pine and roasted beans,
and soft jazz blends with the sound of wind passing through old wooden eaves.
It feels more like visiting someone’s countryside home than entering a café.

You can sit indoors for stillness, or step outside to the terrace facing the reservoir —
a perfect spot for conversation, reading, or simply watching the lake shimmer under the sunlight.

Couples and solo travelers alike linger here longer than they plan,
because the atmosphere feels both grounding and endlessly calm.

What makes Araeheon special isn’t just the architecture — it’s the way it blends taste and art.
The café doubles as a small exhibition space, with paintings, pottery, and local crafts displayed along the wooden hallways and walls.

The pieces change seasonally, turning every visit into a slightly new experience.
It feels like walking through a gallery where art and sunlight share the same language.

Near the counter, a glass display showcases a tempting lineup of freshly baked bread and desserts —
from buttery croissants and scones to soft cakes and seasonal fruit tarts.
Many visitors come for coffee but stay for dessert,
and somehow the warm bread aroma feels perfectly at home in this hanok setting.

What I liked the most about Arae-Heon
I really like the fact that I had wide variety of pastries and desserts. It was amazing to sit and relax with nice cup of coffee and bread:D
Breath Coffee Works — Where Coffee and Calm Breathe Together
Address : 204-8, Bobul-ro, Gyeongju-si/ 경상북도 경주시 하동 193

Located on the opposite side of Hadong Reservoir, Breath Coffee Works feels like a space built to help people pause and breathe.
Minimal yet warm, it is where architecture, water, and stillness meet in quiet balance.

What first catches your eye is not the building itself but the small reflective pond that lies across its front terrace.
The water sits still, mirroring the sky and the café’s brass-toned interior.
When the wind stirs, ripples shimmer softly across the glass walls.
From this side of the reservoir, the air feels calmer and the light softer.

The café’s name, Breath, makes perfect sense.
The entire space feels alive yet tranquil, as if it was designed for travelers who want to rest without leaving beauty behind.
Inside, exposed concrete and brushed brass details create a balance of warmth and restraint.
The large windows open toward the water, and every sound, even footsteps and quiet conversation, feels softened by the pond outside.

At Breath Coffee Works, coffee is slow and deliberate, a form of quiet craftsmanship.
The in-house roasting area fills the air with the scent of freshly ground beans, and the baristas move with precision and calm focus.

Their house blend offers a nutty aroma with smooth balance, while seasonal single-origin hand-drip selections shift between floral and chocolatey notes.
Each cup is served in minimalist glassware that catches and reflects the soft light from the pond.
If you prefer something cool, their cold brew is clean, slightly sweet, and perfectly aligned with the café’s stillness.

Breath Coffee Works is not about display but about balance.
Every reflection, every cup, and every movement feels measured and calm.
It is the kind of space where you forget time, where the line between design and emotion quietly disappears.

As you sit by the window and watch the ripples shift across the pond,
you start to feel the café’s true rhythm.
A slow inhale, a soft exhale, shared between light, water, and coffee.

What I liked the most about Breath Coffee Works
I really liked the fact that each seating area had different view. Each time I went felt like who new cafe to me 🙂
